MODEL 819 LOW-FORCE ELECTRICALLY
RELEASED IN-FLIGHT DISCONNECT

The Model 819 Low Force Electronically Released In-Flight Disconnect is qualified for the Minuteman III reentry Vehicle, the Peacekeeper and the Small ICBM.

The electrical release occurs when 5 amperes minimum is applied for 15 milliseconds minimum to either redundant non-pyrotechnic pin puller. No-fire current is 1 ampere for 5 minutes. Complete connector separation occurs within 50 milliseconds. Mechanical (lanyard) release mode is available as an option.

This product is a series of connectors that are umbilical/in-flight disconnects that are available with lanyard of electrical uncoupling. Lanyard-released models will separate upon the application of a 10-25 pound pull on the lanyard. Electrically released models will separate upon the application of a 5 ampere D.C. current. The electrical pin-puller separation device is non explosive. Lanyard released models and eletrically released models of the 819 connector offer debris-free separation from the receptacle. Captive spring energy is used to separate the plug from the receptacle.
